Summit Kennels, LLC is a veteran-owned and operated company committed to providing the most customized and dedicated dog training available to Eastern North Carolina. Founded by Garrett Watkins, a former Marine Corps Special Operations K9 Handler and Trainer, Summit Kennels brings a wealth of experience and expertise to every training session. Garrett’s passion for dog training began during his time in Special Operations, where he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of canine behavior and training.
After separating from the military, Garrett, alongside his co-founder Tigo, established Summit Kennels with the mission of offering elite dog training services. Garrett and Tigo served together in the Marine Corps, completing multiple combat deployments to the Middle East. Their bond and shared experiences form the foundation of Summit Kennels’ approach to training.
Our Board and Train program includes basic and advanced obedience training, behavior modification, and private lessons. Your dog will stay with their assigned trainer in a comfortable home environment, ensuring a relaxed climate for maximum results. The program also includes balanced training, socialization, environmental exposure, and mentally enriching playtime.

Yes, clients receive numerous educational videos during their dog’s training to ensure they understand the training process. After the Board and Train program, trainers provide detailed walk-throughs of all commands and ample practice time. Clients also receive two follow-on private lessons for further support.
